In January 2016 the Province of Durham launched an appeal to raise money for the Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys. The Festival will conclude in 2021.
The RMTGB has now been replaced with the Masonic Charitable Foundation which will continue to provide financial support for the children and grandchildren of Freemasons who are living in circumstances of hardship and distress due to the death, disability or redundancy of a parent, or the breakdown of the family. The charity also provides support for children from Masonic families who have severe disabilities, as well as those with an exceptional talent in music, sport and the performing arts. While the work of the MCF is predominantly focused on Masonic families, the charity provides community support grants to charities that also aim to break the link between poverty and a lack of access to education.
The success of the Durham Festival will be vital to the funds available for the Masonic Charitable Foundation in 2021 and therefore the Festival should be the Province’s priority over the next five years.
All personal donations will be credited to a Lodge or Chapter achievement total.
Further information about the Festival can be found on the Durham 2020 Festival website.
